Roger Ballen.

Style Is Life brings together Daniele Tamagni's images of Congolese sapeurs, Botswana's Afrometals, Bolivian wrestlers, young Johannesburg dance groups and more, showcasing famous and unpublished photographs that remind us of the subversive and political value of fashion. 'With every picture of Daniele it becomes clear that he was not a photographer who simply captured moments detached from the surroundings or the people. He immersed himself in every moment and uniquely positioned himself as a foreign photographer who cared about building a relationship with his subject.' (Aida Muluneh) .'Daniele's images have won the World Press Photo, fashion designers such as Paul Smith and Stella Jean inspired, convinced the demanding jury of the ICP Infinity Award and seduced artists like Solange Knowles.' (Chiara Bardelli Nonino).

Award-winning photo series about the politically volatile border region between Mexico and the USA
Borderlands is a documentary essay shot along the US side of the border with Mexico between 2017 and 2019, at the height of the Trump era. The series aims to develop a narration capable of going beyond the emergency perspective under which border-related issues are often presented and to transport the complexity of this 3,600 kilometers long strip of land. Crossed by migrants and travelers for decades but also inhabited by a very diverse range of souls, the borderlands seem to become a different place from the two countries they separate. Francesco Anselmi is an award winning documentary photographer living in Milan, Italy. His work focuses on border areas and the various consequences contemporary border policies are having on the people living in there. He is currently working on a long term project about border communities in the European Union. His images have been published and exhibited internationally. -

If Cartier-Bresson's decisive moment reflects a situation perfectly in tune with the photographer's intuition, flawlessly combining the elements of composition and timing, then Ed Kashi's abandoned moment is the result of an imprecise instant of surrender. This collection of photographs, made over a 40-year period, reveals imprecise glimpses of transitory events filled with frenetic energy - the chaos of everyday life. Embodying photography's intrinsic power, they preserve moments that can never occur again in exactly the same time and space. When geometry, mood, and possibility unite to unintentionally create something new, the magical and fictional qualities of still photography capture the unplanned essence of existence. In contrast to my journalistic approach of deep personal connection and keen observation, this work is about capturing the untamed energy of a moment with abandon.

Christophe Gin spent five months exploring the landscapes of Guiana, from border regions to the most remote Amerindian villages, where the local population mingle with soldiers, gold prospectors, and exploited immigrant workers. His photography bears witness to the reality of life in a land full of contrasts, far from the caricatures often presented through the mainstream press.
»Guiana is France's most vast region, in which the Guiana Space Center co-exists with an immense area of forest. In principle, this part of the Republic is subject to the same laws as those of the metropolis. However, a combination of factors (an uncontrollable equatorial forest, a gold rush descending into the tropical Far-West, foreign nationals reduced to criminality, and an American-Indian population forced to adapt to a system of republicanism) transform this part of the Republic into a place of lawlessness. After having worked in the region for the past fifteen years, I see Guiana more like a mosaic of exceptional places, often governed by codes and laws that are right for them.« Christophe Gin (b. 1965), a self-taught photographer, started his career in the early 1990s. His work has been the subject of numerous international exhibitions.
Winner of the 6th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award - Lawless areas in France

On the couch with Sigmund Freud-- a photographic study of psychoanalytic offices in Buenos Aires and New England For much of her life, American photographer Shellburne Thurber has been engaged in an ongoing photographic investigation of the relationship between constructed space and human energy. Long intrigued by the idea of lived space as an extension of the body and a site for projection, she has photographed a wide variety of subjects, beginning with the homes of family and friends who have passed, to generic back road motels, churches, abandoned and derelict homes and hospitals, as well as commissioned projects such as the renovation of the Boston Athenæum and the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site. She is especially interested in spaces that are both public and private.
This volume comprises a selection of images Thurber made in 1999 and 2000 of psychoanalysts' offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the New England area of the United States. -
